Financing your studies
Financial issues can influence educational decisions, represent a sizeable additional burden during your course of study, influence your academic success or mental health and, in some cases, also lead to the interruption or termination of a course of study. It is important to take care of financial aspects early and before you start your studies. Prospective students can also contact the university’s internal departments and cantonal offices.
You often hear that it is normal to work alongside your studies or that students all have to “slum it” a bit. However, not all jobs are the same. Financing your studies is not the same as earning pocket money or holiday money. Many low-income first-generation students are ashamed to apply for a scholarship or other financial support.
The aim is to remove the taboo from the topic of money within university and to encourage students to look at financing issues from the point of view of educational equity, too.
